Start with the garment and use case

Embroidery and screen printing solve different problems. Embroidery is commonly used on polos, hats, jackets and workwear where a stitched mark fits the garment. Screen printing is commonly used on T-shirts, sweatshirts and larger graphic areas where ink is a better fit.

Choose embroidery when

  • The garment is structured or heavier
  • The logo is intended to look stitched and dimensional
  • Polos, hats, outerwear or workwear are central to the program
  • The approved design can be translated cleanly into stitches

Choose screen printing when

  • The garment is a tee, sweatshirt or similar printable surface
  • The design uses larger graphic areas
  • Multiple pieces share the same print setup
  • The artwork and garment are suitable for the chosen ink process

Do not choose by decoration method alone

Garment fabric, seam placement, logo detail, color requirements, quantity and intended wear all affect the recommendation. A design that works well on one garment may need a different treatment on another.

For recurring programs, document the decision

Save the approved garment, logo file, placement, decoration method and color details so the next reorder matches the standard.
